Life on Gozo during COVID-19
Updated: Mar 18
Dear friends and guests,
It’s time for a small update from your Calypso team :).
First of all the most important: we are well and healthy!
So far there have been very few cases of COVID-19 here in Gozo. The government is working quickly in taking measurements to protect us here on our small rock.
For the time being all flights are banned with the exception of cargo and humanitarian aid, also no ships are allowed to disembark. The Maltese islands are isolating.
All non-essential shops are closed, including restaurants and cafes, and most people stay indoors.
The silence in Gozo is actually very beautiful!
Of course also our dive centre is closed until further notice sadly. Tom, Tanja and Tabasco are still in the shop most mornings to hold the fort. We are keeping busy with maintenance, renovation and answering e-mails, which regrettably are many cancellations at present.
Marek and Paulina have become parents of a lovely boy in February. His name is Bruno, and at the moment all of them including dog Rusty are enjoying to spend lots of time with each other.
Joe now is staying home to be on the safe side, so when the season starts again he will be healthy and fit to look after his compressor room again. Antje is concentrating on her Yoga with a lot of passion, and has started to offer online classes. Have a look here if you are interested: www.gozofreediving.com . Geoffroy (or Frenchman as most of you know him) is in Gozo as well and is enjoying his day with baking cakes and spending time with his dog Tribal. And “Papa George” is only a phone call away if we need his advice.
Allison, Asbjörn, Pitcho, Holger, Maren, Malfrid and Torsten are not here in Gozo of course, but are healthy and well.
All of us are ready for the diving season and we are looking forward to dive with you again as soon as traveling will be safe again. Until then hang on there, and most important – stay healthy!
We are sending you warm regards,
Your Calypso Team
